The Shadowed Crown at Dawn

Upon the morn, ‘neath skies of rose and gold,
A knightly shade doth keep his solemn stand;
His helm befits a crown, both dark and bold,
Yet veils the visage none may dare command.

Beyond, the forest whispers soft and deep,
Where sunbeams pierce through oaken ranks of green;
The rivers hush, as though they vow to keep
The secrets of the steel-clad, unseen mien.

O silent guardian, clad in dusk’s embrace,
What vow dost thou in yonder stillness bind?
Art thou the watch ‘gainst some forgotten place,
Or dreamt of glories, lost to mortal kind?

Thus ‘neath the breaking light thy form doth stay,
A timeless soul, till night doth claim the day.
