the usage of cards and talents is a very nice feature that sets this apart from other games.
it's really buggy and has pretty bad matchmaking though.
it's ok

The first thing that impressed me when playing Evoland 2 was the creative use of showing off different graphical eras in gaming through integrating time travel as a main game element. The graphics would gradually improve as you advanced later down the timeline. Areas, items, NPCs, and mobs would also change in most cases to match the era you're in.
Evoland follows three main protagonists as they travel through time together in favor of saving their future, as well as other personal interests. Evoland 2 is filled with tons of references to other well known games through dialog, cameo appearances, as well as through gameplay. The humor and gameplay was definitely a treat.

As much as I would love to continue singing praises, there is a fair amount that bothered me:
-The game has a fair amount of backtracking involved.
-The puzzles don't provide hints. Most of the time it was fine, but sometimes it was very frustrating trying figure out how to complete a puzzle.
-As interesting as the premise for the story is, I thought it was executed poorly. Lots of information was missing by the conclusion of the story-- in fact, I was more confused than anything by the end of the epilogue.

Overall, I still enjoyed the game and and recommend buying it on sale. 7/10

I bought this for a huge discount -- which was probably one of the best decisions I've made on steam.
The game is aesthetically pleasing, and the use of foreground as well as background was very well done.
There were definitely a lot of new and interesting puzzles throughout the game that felt refreashing, and that used all of the character's abilities and upgrades. Trine 2 convinced me that it is not your typical puzzle platformer. It's great to play through with friends, and I recommend keeping an eye on this game during sales. Typically, you can find this game for ~75% off during large steam sales.
