TL;DR This game is very fun only with friends and has it's quirks. Solo play is very grindy and difficult without dying several times.

My biggest gripe with this game is how players are supposed to progress in the game. I understand it's supposed to be a rogue-lite game, but hiding new skills and access to tools behind magazines that are randomly generated across your runs is a weird choice. There were several times where I bought a new piece of furniture or equipment, just for the game to do a rug pull and say I can't use it because I haven't found X book. I've beaten the game twice and have still yet to find an advance electronics book or a car thief book. Wanna grow weed? You need to spend 5000 dollars to buy it, which is a lot. So you buy it, but then realize you can't actually use it because you need a weed growing book.

Lots of items feel worthless and are pretty costly too. The crossbow is a huge example of this. Why even buy it when you can buy a stun gun and darts for cheaper? It knocks them out the same amount of time, except the bow is much more expensive, you can use the crossbows to hack devices except why do that when you can just buy the remote hacking tool? Why buy the fire axe when you need strongman level 2, and it's pretty much the same knockout time as the bat, which is cheaper and doesn't require the book to be used.

Solo play is almost out of the question. You're given a limit amount of time during a day, with 5 starting inventory slots and your tools and loot take these slots up. You can imagine when it takes more than 2 tools to run through a house, it's gonna drag running back and forth from the house to the trailer just to drop off loot. It's impossible to run solo.

For the price the gameplay is nice but 3 maps and one heist feels kind of lack luster. Workshop support would work wonders on this game. Lots of potential just needs tweaking.

The DLCs adds new races and classes to the game, giving you more ways to approach the dungeon. I think the DLC are okay for the price. Each new race has a new class that goes alongside it, that you must complete in order to use the class with other characters, pretty much forcing you to use the new race at least once to play it with other combos. I think it's nice, as it forces some progression into the game. I think most of the classes are decent despite what people think. I don't see any of them as meta, more-so just different styles to play the game.

That's about all the good things I have to say about the DLC though. I love the new achievements, but a lot of the new achievements requires up to all 4 players to have the DLC to play a mix of races or classes. Feels a little cash-grabby to me. I realize not everyone cares about this, but people who wanna 100% the game are forced to have 4 other friends whom all have every DLC.

I wish there was more to it. The Incubus gets a new whip melee weapon, with way more range than a standard one but to my knowledge isn't a standard drop. Only he can spawn it. Makes me wish there was new items or areas added in these packs. In addition, why have a succubus in one pack, and an incubus in another? There's only minor tweaks between them unless you play their signature classes. Kind of diminishes the value of the packs. There's another DLC pack being released but it seems it's just new races and classes again.

TL'DR: It's 4 dollars. You aren't losing much getting this. If you love the game and want more out of it, you'll definitely get more hours out of trying the new methods. I loved playing the robot and focusing more on building turrets to gun down mobs of enemies, I think the incubus class is pretty weak, Shaman is pretty fun and strong and the insectoid is pretty fun. Just wish there was more to it. 6/10

Gotta recommend this game just off split-screen/co-op alone. Lots and lots of hours can be had playing this game. No run is truly the same. Playing different classes really changes the style of how to approach the dungeons, plus DLC adds races which gives you even more combos. Workshop support is nice. Updates are still being pumped out for this game. It's very fun but be very long to finish. I enjoy this game. Lots of stuff can kill you but everything seems fair and can be approached in many ways. This game is fun with a group of friends that can split up and clear a dungeon floor, but playing solo be prepared to min/max everything as it's a very hard, challenging game and every single thing matters. Solo runs for me can take ALL day, not even kidding. They're long sessions but very rewarding if you can win. I'm excited to see where the game goes with more content and alt paths. If you like binding of isaac esque games, do yourself a favor and try this out.

Love this game. Soundtrack is amazing. Gameplay is pretty standard given the release of the game, no job system or anything like that. Story is really good and I love the multiple endings. Game was truly ahead of it's time. Thank you Akira Toriyama and team. You've blessed us with this wonderful creation.

What an incredible game. The story and lore is very rich, and I enjoyed all the characters and backstories. The art style is disgusting in a very good way, sound design too. Although few, the cutscenes you do get are very impactful and makes me want more. This is my biggest drawback. There's very few death animations. There's several instant game-over deaths in the game and I wish it would have some kind of cutscene other than flavor text and the same game over screen.

The game play is very good as a survival horror RPG, and building up Sam to your play style is neat. Having skills tied to the weapons forces the player to constantly try different moves and play styles. Learning new skills through the video game is very cool and I liked this. I wish there was more of this for the party members. Maybe through socializing or having them play games by themselves?

The soundtrack is amazing as well. Really hits that 90s-2000s RPG era of music. Honestly everything about this game is really good. You really can't go wrong at this price point. Dev has been pushing constant updates out since it's release with more artwork, soundtracks, bosses, achievements, etc. Do yourself a favor and get this game!

Game was updated with even more content. At this rate there's no excuse not to try this game. You really can't go wrong.

Early Access Review
After giving the game an honest fair try, I can say for certain that there's potential here but it's uncertain if the new developers will carry the torch. The game receives updates on a monthly basis and from it's launch has definitely improved. But there's still a lot to be desired here.

The biggest issue here is optimization. I have a 5060 build and this game has moments where FPS TANKS like crazy, and in a perma death game with high stakes, this is a huge issue. Opening up your inventory with frame gen can cause FPS to plummet like crazy, which is a huge core factor of the game. Bugs are an issue as well. I have a friend who'll play with me and guarantee he's disconnecting the first game we play on start up. He has a 5070TI so not sure why that happens. Zombies can get stuck in between windows of maps and rubber band up and down really quick...

No balancing for less members in your game, the game is pretty much designed to only be played with 8 players. If you finish a mission with you and 2 other buddies, it can take over an hour and you'll maybe get a handful of levels, but if you play with 8 players you'll get 20+ levels to your character and clear the mission in 20-30 minutes, even on the harder difficulties. I've lost characters on casual or hard playing with just 3 players so many times, but getting a full 8 stack lobby feels like a walk in the park. They're doing a major balance update this month so this could change.

There's 4 maps at the time of this review. They're huge maps, with lots of objectives to complete that are RNG. Even the escape fight and the escape itself can be different per map. Compared to the 1st game? This is bad as the OG had 33 maps to play on. It's in Early access and they are adding new ones, but if you've played the first you'll definitely feel this. No solo play either but again, could change.

That's not to say this game isn't bad. It's a fun game honestly. Melee combat is fun, gun play is a little wonky but is satisfying, plenty of melee weapons to choose from that works with other perks to help with dismembering limbs or knocking undead down. Kicking zombies down is a new ability and it's really satisfying knocking zombies down and finishing them off. It's fun having to look for specific ammo types (.45, 9mm, etc..) for guns. High intense moments are fun! It's cool dodging zombies roaming the streets and I love how the game really makes you feel like a survivor against the undead, even if you're a fully kitty leveled up survivor, you can still very easily screw up and die. It's fun seeing you become infected, symptoms getting worse until you eventually seize up, and become one of the undead. It's not like the first screen where it's just a grey screen with feint yellow veins eventually coming up until you turn. Now your character coughs, their voices change and distort, you'll get headaches and audio distortions, audio hallucinations, eventual screen flickering and red veins... They really have the blueprint here for a really good zombie game here.

I have hope for this game and would love to see if they can carry the torch of the first game eventually. It has the core fundamentals of the first, but it's just lacking that content and polish it deserves. I'm only giving it a good review because I like the game and want to see it grow. It could be considered one of the better new gen George A. Romero zombie styled games, but if you can stomach the older gameplay of the original, you're probably better off playing that until there's just more polish and content to the game, at least for $30. I got it on sale for $20 and I'm happy at that price point.

TL;DR 6/10 needs polish and more content but gameplay can be satisfying and fun.

For the developers but somethings i'd like to see is maybe an option to reroll the 3 perks you get when leveling up with the in game currency. Maybe another option to reroll all perks a character has with random ones? Would add more use to the in-game currency. Chainsaws, molotovs, energy drink for infinite stamina for a short time, of course more weapons and maps...

Early Access Review
Do I recommend this game? Sort of. it's a great game, no, fantastic. However, I have my reasons why I sort of advice to step away, however if you love rogue likes or you're looking for a great split screen game, this is for you.

Pros:
4 classes, one being unlocked, 4 skins for each and a ton of perks to choose from.
4 worlds, 3 levels, 2 soundtracks for each world, when unlocked
SPLIT SCREEN CO-OP!!
Online as well
Lots of unlockables
When beaten, although there is no cutscene or anything special, you get to re-do the game with your current stats, and weapons, with harder enemies, and loads more of them.
Very rewarding when you learn how to play
Cons:
(This is a big one) Game has been out for YEARS, and it's still in early access stage, game still feels the same, aside from a few new things.
Wildling is SO broken,
Weapons don't have that feeling when you really don't want to part ways with it, no special things to them that will make you feel attached.
Special challenge rooms have no advantage to using them.

Overall I give it a 7.5/10, just wish it finally came out of early access.

I feel the game is getting such a huge outburst over a pewdiepie event and I feel it is injustice to do that, so I feel I should perhaps maybe help, the game is incredibly great, although short (for me it took a long time as I got to all the scenes and area to explore, it had a fantastic story and I loved the relationship you had going with a person in a radio. The game was visually appealing and the story was so rich with experience, I was truly lured into it. I give it a 8/10, only due to it's short story.

Update: I guess over the time of it's release, it did get better. Although, it did take almost 11 updates to finally fix the game completely, but it did add some new content like more languages, and support for DLC, which is pretty good. Like many people have said, there are MAJOR improvements over the last game and I really enjoy the game now that it's way less buggy.

It's a great game, yes. It did so much compared to its last game, however in it's current state I cannot recommend it. Already going through 3 updates in a week and it still h as many issues. I want to love it, but I can't. Me and my brother want to play splitscreen to record it and we have went through so many problems, our save file got corrupted, it crashes so many times when we talk to people, it's near impossible to play it, we have maybe 3 hours in with actual gameplay and the rest are us trying to get it working. I sent a support ticket to the team and I have yet to get a reply. Maybe later when all the bugs are sorted out, then I'd recommend it, but until then I just can't in it's current state.
