haven't had a chance to play Limbo, so I approached INSIDE with pretty low expectations, but boy was I in for a surprise!

while I'm a total bystander of the genre when it comes to more 'conventionally' suited titles, I would not personally call this one a horror per se. it is definitely captivating and atmospheric, and keeps this certain level of 'unsettlement' till the very end, but it's not nervewrecking. I guess, some similarities could be drawn here with Little Nightmares in this regard.

despite it being pretty dimmed down in color, I was completely blown away by the visuals, the way some scenes were framed, the 'cinematic' feel of the camera, the light work. not to mention the sound and animation! I tip my hat to the developer Team.

the story itself, or rather, the storyTELLING is on point. what also kept me playing was that puzzles were not annoying, or annoyingly difficult, nor were they too frequent. and there's that constant feeling of moving forward and progressing, as opposed to metroidvanias I have had mixed experience with. while exploration IS needed in some areas, it is not overwhelming and is pretty forgiving and limited in scale.

the story itself left me feeling like I've watched some animated indie movie with questions-inducing ending, which makes sense when you learn it was partially funded by the Danish Film Institute. the last game that left me in a similar state was Draugen, and funnily enough, it was also funded by grants, from the Norwegian Film Institute :)

all in all, definitely recommend. can't miss with this one, as long as you're in the right mood 👍🏻

though lacking performance and optimization at times, this is certainly one of the best interactive story-driven games I've plated over the years. engaging story, well-written characters, awesome music and atmosphere. BUT most importantly -- the Blacksad himself! the charisma, the voice -- all of it! I am a dog person, but this cat won my heart! make sure to give it a try if you love a good classic detective story, jazz, or interactive games in general.
