All I got to play was the intro, barely 40 minutes in really. As soon as you click that door that loads the next area, your on the desktop staring at Steam, and now 2 new windows popped up: 'aamfp.exe is not responding...' and the second showing a bug analyzation report and sending out data. Same thing happened to my friend which means it happens to alot of people.

This is a indirect sequel to Amnesia: The Dark Descent originally created as a mod, by different developers (The Chinese Room) of the series. Knowing this beforehand I went in with zero expectations after playing the first & was pleasantly surprised!

Visually I enjoy the aesthetic, the story is very well thought out, kept me engaged, the soundtrack is beyond beautiful, the overall sound design is amazing, and the attention to detail on the lighting & atmosphere is always nice to see.

If you playthrough the game with the spirit it requires you're going to have a wonderful time! The moment you start to think about it being a walking sim with little threat and a few puzzles sprinkled about, it loses all its effect and becomes dull rather quickly. Thankfully with the game being short I don't think it overstays its welcome.

The only massive problem I had was at the end of every single level, the game would hard crash while going through every door or elevator onto the next level. I was starting to loose patience near the end but I'm glad I stuck through it.
If you have this issue: The fix is booting up the aamfp_NoSteam version in your installation folder. This does take away gametime & achievements but at least you can play it, right?

As for the achievements they're all easy to obtain and linked to completion. The only missable one is to read all the notes (Master Archivist), but once you understand where they'll be (hint: explore the other direction before going forward), they're thankfully harder to miss on your first (and only?) playthrough.

BUT would I recommend it? well... Yeeeah but on sale. I can't recommend it at full price due to the performance issues and knowing they've yet to be fixed since launch. I did however enjoy it for what it is regardless of its flaws. I do think any unbiased psychological horror fans will enjoy it or those who are scared of everything (meow).

I would consider this game more of visual novel, a very disturbing one

The focus is almost entirely on narrative, atmosphere, and psychological unease rather than gameplay or survival mechanics. Exploration feels guided and restrained, but what you lose in interactivity you gain in unsettling story that sticks with you long after the credits roll
