If you get the launcher to show but clicking 'Play' just puts you back on the desktop, updating Steam to its beta branch seems to fix the issue. To do this: 1) Go to Steam->Settings->Interface 2) In the Client Beta Participation option change it to Steam Beta Update 3) Restart Steam This fixed it for me, hope it helps you out...
