Keep in mind there are 2 different types of works in the Bible. works of the law and works of the teachings of Christ. Works of the law do not prove your faith to be real but works of the teachings of Christ do. James 2 is talking about works of the teachings of Christ not the law. This includes all of lit like calling nobody father but God or hating yourself and the world and blessing those who persecute you which if you support the crusades you need to repent and follow the teachings of Christ because you are in danger of hellfire. If you are a fornicator you need to repent and stop, do not care that most will mock you and most women will reject you

Your faith is not real if you don't do the teachings of Christ. Read the story of Jesus and the Centurion who Jesus said had better faith than anyone in Israel. Him humbling himself was called great faith because its what Jesus taught. Don't be just a hearer of the word be a doer
